Weak Legs the Vagrant

I had an idea I wanted to toy with for a while, but I never was able to get the items I needed. I wanted to make the absolutely weakest vagrant, and then find someone to help me kill a small aibatt (and hopefully I'd surprise them by failing). I finally got everything prepared, although I received some weird comments while I was shopping for the items, haha.
________________________________________________________________________________
This is my new character, WeakLegs the vagrant. He needs help leveling up; who will help him?
The aibatt looks so disinterested.

WeakLegs isn't one of those dependable types. His knees knock at the sight of blood. He's got to find someone to guide him and quick, else he may be the have the only vagrant tomb at the aibatts.

and his health.
WeakLegs asked around how to fight the mighty aibatts. There numbers were large, and he was only a mere vagrant. He hadn't the stamina nor the strength to fight them all (or even one).
Everyone is eager to help.
A Ringmaster stopped to help him. He was glad to have run into her. No one knew how to stay alive better than a healer!

He felt unstoppable with his new ally Alassara. Surely he could conquer his foes now!
He finds his enemies for the second time.

She showed him where he could fight the aibatts, how to restore his constitution after the harsh battles, and even gave him buffs to make him stronger.

Alassara giving WeakLegs some high level buffs to aid him against the aibatts

But Alassara was unaware of WeakLegs' shortcomings. He wasn't your average vagrant. Heck, he wasn't even on par with bad vagrants! Out of them all, there was no one weaker, no one frailer than WeakLegs.

After buffing, Alassara gave WeakLegs her strategy. It was simple. Run up and kill the aibatt.

WeakLegs didn't like the battle plan.
WeakLegs had no where to run! Alassara stood behind him with unwavering confidence and the aibatt was blocking his only other way out. He swallowed his fear and held up his wooden sword. Surely he could defeat just one single, small aibatt!

Weak Legs never realized his potential...

WeakLegs was cut down swiftly by the aibatt, who looked in astonishment at what had just taken place. The Madrigolians had always cut down many of his people effortlessly, but now the tables had turned! It was time to take back his homeland!

He looks so innocent, but he's actually launching an attack on vagrants. Really.

_________________________________________________________________________________

I may post some screenshots of other people helping WeakLegs. They're always baffled when the aibatt kills me. Even with full level 20 buffs, I still had 1 HP. And as long as a monster could hit me, I died!

WeakLegs has some really bad equips. But if you have a total of -700HP you'll be dead from almost anything. WeakLegs got lucky (I guess you could call it lucky) and also has a total of -200ATT from his his gear. He can't even deal any damage to his opponents.

If Alassara ever manages to read this, thanks for helping me, even though it was pointless. I owe you something, I just don't know what! (and you looked like you had more money then me, haha.)

Melted Snow Daddy Event

I wasn't really sure if I was going to do for the Melted Snow Daddy event, but I did, and I'm really glad I did! There's some stuff I had to learn the hard way:

  • The collected event items are NOT tradeable.
  • You can do the quest only one time per character. So don't use a silver/gold battery for collecting event items.
  • Don't use a Collector that isn't a +4 or +5 (I didn't have this problem, but several others did.)

There is some good news You get a bit of penya/EXP as well as a Jimbo the Snowman. What's a Jimbo the Snowman you say? He's a CS buff pet. and he's tradeable! How do you get a Jimbo the snowman? It's easy!

1.) Talk to Danny the Snowboy

2.) Go get a collector and start collecting for Danny's father.
I only spent about 700k in batteries,

3.) After collecting all the pieces, return to Danny.
4.) Reunite father and son.
His dad is sooo small!

Awesome! It's a pretty easy way to get a CS pet if you have a Collector+5. Don't skip up on the opportunity!

Happy FlyFFing!

(Edit: Quite a few people have been asking about drop rates and where to find the items, so I figured I'd clear it up.

  • All the items necessary for the event come from the collecting fields.
  • On average it has taken me about 6 hours.
  • The mittens have the LOWEST drop rate. Out of the 3 I've done, they were always the last item and took about 4 additional hours to get. (I've actually had to collect for about 20 hours for this last one! The key to getting the items is patience and consistency! Cheers/Yelling the item name over and over won't help you get them any faster. (Although it can be fun to do! :] )
  • I believe the top hat or nose has the second lowest drop rate.
  • Generally, you'll have all the items except for 1 within the first 2 hours.
I hope this helps!)

Five years of FlyFF celebration and events

Presents. :P
It's Christmas Eve! FlyFF couldn't have handed everyone a better gift than the 5x EXP event. Not to mention it's 3x for the rest of the week! There's rarely a time when we have a 3x event, so this week is still blowing my mind.

I started off the 5x EXP day trying to level Altaius (my Elementor) in Azria but it was too crowded on every channel. The smallest number of people at the Mammoths were about  21! Which was channel 3-2. Mobs continually teleported towards me, froze, and walked in random directions. There was nothing I could do..

I decided to level my other characters a bit since I couldn't do any large AoE stuff. I leveled:

Artaius (blade) : 75 -78
Amusei(knight): 67 - 71
Arthfael(int BP): 64- 70
Maik(Psykeeper): 18-51
______________________________________________________________________________

Even while the EXP event is going on, there is still plenty of things to do! The acheivement system gives some nice prizes, as well as the login event. The Naughty or Nice event is building up for the upcoming weeks, and then there's the Masquerpet Madness and the Melted Snow Daddy event.

While I waited on my partner for the 5x EXP event I did a bit of box hunting because, well, there wasn't a soul doing it! I picked up about 85 boxes and updated my tables for them. I'll re-post in them here so you don't have to go digging, so enjoy:

Winter Break part 2

So after realizing I had a grand total of 1.4M penya left from the alchemy event, I spent today trying to figure out how to earn some money. I didn't feel like getting Christmas Spirits from the Naughty or Nice event, so that was out. I considered grinding in Azria but it's kinda hard to get there when you don't have the money for a ticket.

Farming some Red Crystals for the Alchemy event.

Maybe I could start collecting again? I still had my collector+5, and the 30 minute batteries are pretty cheap.
I grabbed my collector from the bank, ran to the collecting zone and stopped and stared in amazement.
I'm not that dedicated. I'm lucky if my shop doesn't disconnect overnight. There's no way I'm doing that!

I decided I really wanted to test out my new Arek+9 and Arek+15. Skooma is a full strength BP, so the 31 dexterity made a big difference. What better way to test it out than through gianting? The Giant Carrierbomb continually gave me problems, so I obviously wanted him dead.
The cliffnotes: He fought, he raged, he died.

I killed him a few times and went to sell the loot in Darkon:

Gross.
and then promptly blinked to Flaris and sold all the loot.

Much better!
I had fun killing the giant. It was much easier than I remembered. I didn't have to worry about his rage.

It's always good to check the sales tax if you're going to unload your drops from grinding/gianting to the NPC.
Had I sold it in Darkon, I would have made roughly 260k less and I didn't even have a lot to sell!

Happy FlyFFing!

(Maintenance note: I've got to redo the background and title because of the seasonal change, so expect it up soon!)

Winter Break part 1

Finally! I'm off for the next few weeks, and it couldn't have come at a better time. I was in school during the Alchemy event signups so I was unable to get in. My girlfriend was able to get in, but didn't want to spend the large sums of money to do it, so I passed her my stuff for the event.

I think I spent a sum of 400M on items I didn't have and used close to a full stack of sunstones and moonstones.Fortunately she was able to change a:

Mental Necklace+15 to an Arek Ring+15
Baby Bunny to a Baby Bunny 0/9

Kudos to the GM's for holding the event. It's generally one of the most anticipated events and probably the most taxing for the GM's as well. They spent nearly the entire day doing it for Lawolf, and not to mention that was only the first server (I don't envy them at the moment, haha).

I really wish I asked her to get some screenshots for the event but I completely forgot.

Happy FlyFFing!

Website maintenance

I tried logging in this morning but couldn't get past the character log-in screen. I'm going to assume FlyFF went down for some unscheduled fixes, and since I couldn't log-in, I decided to do a maintenance check on the blog.

A few things fixed:

  • ImageShack (for some odd reason) has decided that a select few of my FlyFF pictures violate it's ToS, and they were removed. I've re-uploaded and fixed their links.
  • Most people access the site with some large screen resolutions (1600x1400 and larger). It caused stretching with the background image.
Happy FlyFFing!

V16 is upon us!

Finally! I've been eagerly awaiting this update since August! Although I'm not really sure why I was excited. I guess I just find updates exciting.

Unfortunately, I will have to hold my excitement until I can get home for the semester, as all I have been able to do is setup/check shops.

Today was a bit of an exception. I was able to log in and gain about 35% with the event going on. I also took some time to peruse the marketplace for Shurand/Shuran pieces.

I don't really like him calling it a CS hat. It will sit in your mask slot. Heck, I'm not even sure that one was permanent!

I hear all this talk of an achievement system, but I didn't see any menus that I could pull up while logged in, so I decided to use the help menu to find out. Allow me to summarize the vast amount of material that the help menu covers:

Sweet. Forget enchanting. I didn't want to know about it anyway. I'll probably just get someone to cheer me. Most of the menus are blank or almost blank, and a few just say things like 'placeholder 39' or some other number.

Maybe it'll change in an update far, far away.

Have fun with V16!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sorry for the hiatus, but I'll be in and out until December 19th. School is first priority. I'll try to post regularly, but as you can see, it may not happen, haha.

Contamination mentioned that the new Thanksgiving event could possibly drop Scrolls of Amplification x3! Dang! I immediately started killing the level 1 Gobblers, but after 25 or so, I only ended up with 3 of these (Sounds like I need to get a GB party). I'll continue to update the table until Sunday night, so look forward to it!

I think my favorite monster event is still the clockwork butler, but I've enjoyed all the ones we've had so far.

Have an awesome Thankgiving!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is upon us! Let the festivities begin!
Thanks to Skalman, AshiiDove, Sellese, shaman123, and butangi for the screenshots!

Getting three out of five to say "Happy Halloween!" is  hard enough, so I just stuck with this one. I had originally told them to shout it, and behold! I'm the only one not shouting, haha.

Have a happy Halloween even if you aren't trick-or-treating/Zombie hunting. It's equally fun to drink excessive amounts of apple cider and lounge around!

28 Vagrants Later + New Zombie CS!

Now that the ghoul event is over, we get another undead themed event, the 28 Vagrant's Later.

This event has gotten me pretty excited. I hope I can take advantage of it, although, it seems like everyone is taking advantage of it. I could hardly find any zombies myself!

The first stage of the event is to collect gas cans to fuel a chainsaw for 24 hours. Why do you need gas? I have absolutely no idea. I filled that thing up, and started swinging furiously. I guess no one showed Skooma how to use a chainsaw.

(Note: You don't have to fight the zombies with a chainsaw, but you need to do the chainsaw quest in order to get the zombie hunter quest!)

Now once you've turned in your 10 gas tanks to Romero (Surely coincidental with the name George Romero -- who has done a ton of zombie films). He'll give you the task of hunting 50 male and 50 female zombie in exchange for one token (Each zombie drops a Zombie Box although these are not the same as the Zombie Hunter Box!). Brooks will trade you some nice prizes for your tokens. Wait.. Brooks? Like Max Brooks? The guy who wrote The Zombie Survival Guide? I'm probably reading too much into it.

There's also a mad scientist named Kirkman who will build you a special CS pet if you manage to collect all 6 pieces. (Robert Kirkman wrote The Walking Dead comics; care to guess what it's about?)

Regardless, it seems like a fun event with some fun prizes. I've got my eye on one of those capes you can get from Brooks.

Anyway, enjoy the 28 Days Vagrants Later event!

(Note: I have no clue what the penya does, I've tried dropping and picking it up but it seems to disappear. I couldn't double click and activate it and it sells to the NPC for 1 penya. xD)

Zombie pieces are currently selling for 5-8M each. I'd wager they'll drop more by the end of the event.
Zombie boxes are about 150-250k at the moment.
(Note: If you picked up the zombie piece from the December 22nd Masquerpet Madness event, there is no NPC to trade the pieces to. Hold onto it in case it might be used again, or just get rid of it.

The zombie spawn times are akin to the mocomochi's, which also means they're randomized to an extent.

Ghoul event, Level up, and +Attack power event

If you haven't logged onto FlyFF in a while, you're really missing out! The events given to us so far feel geared towards lower levels, but those are some of my favorites. Last week we were introduced to the +Attack Power event and the Level Up! event.
The +Attack Power event gives a global 200 attack boost to everyone. It doesn't really make a huge difference to my blade, but for some of the lower hitters it is a very welcome event. :)

The Level Up! event basically gives you gifts for leveling up to certain points. The prizes are quite nice, especially the level 17 cloak box.

Wednesday we were introduced to The Haunting of the Ghastly Ghouls event. It's one of those hunting events where you run around and kill monsters. I particularly like this one because the spawns seem a little bigger. During rush hours it's near impossible to get anything simply because there's a ton of people hunting.

I decided to try a little statistics table for the two boxes you can open. I'll continue to update the table as I get a larger sample size. Hopefully it'll help you get an idea for what's inside!

The Mia Box event

Go here for Flyffer's Box stuff!

With Tuesday coming to a close, the Mia chance box event is also ending. Somehow I don't tend to have any luck on these events, but they're so fun to do anyway, haha.  I farmed for these boxes for 1 hour a day, each day these week.

I couldn't spend as much time on FlyFF for this event week as I wanted to, but the weekend is coming up and I'll be home. So I hope there's a good event to take advantage of!

Anyway, here's my results:

No grand prize. Ouch. At least I've got plenty of stuff to sell now though! It could be worse; currently, in Lawolf the CS pets are at their cheapest. I've seen plenty Rhisis' Box pets and Mia pets for 75M or so. I'm glad I didn't run around buying these boxes, or I would have been quite disappointed.

Come join me on the forums during maintenance! It's a fun way to win prizes and pass the time! (Just make sure to find the maintenance thread once FlyFF goes down tonight.)

Gianting for fun!

As I'm sure most people know, gianting is a decent way to make money in the higher levels. I'm going to cover  some of my favorites.

The Giant Steel Knight (Level 59):

The Steel Knight may be one of my favorite giants. His drops are even high around 65 and he usually drops 1-2 quest items per kill. He's definitely an easy way to get the quest items if you don't train on the steel knights. He also drops a Gore Necklace+6, which sells for 25-35M. I actually picked up two of these from him, and both were when I was level 65+.

The Giant NuttyWheel (Level 61):

He's nearby the Giant Steel Knight, so he makes a pretty good stopping point if you're going to the Giant Driller. I didn't find anything special about him, except he did drop an ancient shield once (Sadly, I wasn't aware that they sell for 10-15 million and I just NPC'ed it).

The Giant Driller (Level 63):
The Giant Driller is usually the third boss on my rounds before I switch servers. His drops are pretty decent (mostly level 50+ armor and level 60 weapons).

The Giant Volt (Level 65):
This boss is quite interesting (and the fourth on my route). He drops tons of loot as well as +5 rings. He doesn't give up his loot easily though! After he heals, he'll rage and deal a significantly higher amount of damage, as well as he has a high critical rate. This boss can definitely take you down if you're not paying attention!

The Giant Elderguard (Level 67):
This giant is probably the favorite of most people, as the Giant Elderguard drops 6-8 items normally. A Treasure Hunting party could effectively fill your inventory after one kill from this giant. This guy is pretty close to the Giant Volt and literally next to the Giant Garbagepider, which makes him the 5th on my route.

The Giant Garbagepider: (Level 69):
The Giant Garbagepider has similar drops to the Giant Elderguard.  Just do a server hop and repeat unless your inventory is full. He can be a bit tough if you're low level, but he's worth the effort if you can handle him.

(If you look on the map, you can literally just fly over the ridge and be back at the steel knights.)

Some tips to remember:

If you're a mercenary, you'll probably be better of doing this at level 60. It's the last level you can get pang buffs for, so you don't have to hunt for an assist to help you out.

If you're an RM, go find someone to run this gauntlet with you. It's a good way to get a few decent pieces before you go from 50-60.

If you're an assist - have fun! You can do this whenever you're bored. Stonehand pretty much makes you invincible here.

I didn't mention the Mushillizer (level 65) because he's really far out on my circle of giants (Although you can read more the Mushillizer here). You can camp out for him specifically, but he's often crowded because his drops are really nice. Assists/BP's are a bit screwed here. He's not affected by status ailments, so stuns and sneakers don't work on him.

Don't use anything but FUN cards while you giant. You're diminishing your returns! (I'm especially bad at this, haha)

Go have some fun!

The Madrigal Times weekend special!

What in the world does the title mean? I'll tell you! There's quite a few posts I've finished but haven't published yet, so look forward to seeing them throughout the next day or two.

We have yet another box event, which is cool, but I'm really dying for another EXP event or FLY FOR FUN event.
I'd like to get my BP Skooma to the Dekane mines soon, but he needs quite a few more levels..

I also did quite a bit of leveling on Altaius and Skooma:

Skooma leveled from 70 to 72.
Altaius leveled from 76 to 84.

Care to guess what the next post will be on? :)

I'll be sure to publish the next few posts soon. Happy grinding/box hunting!

Item Price Guide #1 - common vagrant stuff, common jewelry

(Disclaimer: This guide will be solely on the Lawolf economy since it's the only one I have any clue about.)

(This is the first guide. It spans some common items that many new players have.)
(I'll link other bloggers' item price guides here too! It doesn't have to follow the same format or anything).

The prices I'm going to list are based on my personal experience. They do fluctuate from time to time, which I'll attempt to mention. Item prices change over periods of months. Often times after big events, prices will also shift (Rhisis box event anyone?).

Feel free to disagree and let me know; I don't mind changing the table (My hindsight is 20/20, haha).

It's time to drink tons of root beer!

From The GM's:
So here's the deal - if you venture to visit this burly man's man, he'll give you a special quest which will require you to collect some Small Toothed Wheels (30 to be exact) and a single Furious Match. Should you manage to bring these items to him, he'll reward you with your very own Brewing Kettle!

Cool huh? No? It's just a kettle :/

Well, just to let you know, you'll need the Brewing Kettle in order to get to the second part of the Octoberfest Chain quest.

Bring your new kettle over to Agustin in Eastern Flaris and he'll give you the option of taking up yet another quest and to continue in the celebration of this festival. He'll want you to go and find 10 Sassafras and 10 Sarsaparillas, both of which drop off of any Masquerpet level 15 and up. Bring these items, plus the Brewing Kettle Boboku gave you, and he'll reward you with a Festival Box.

This special chance box has a chance to contain some really sweet goodies, and possibly even a CS set ;)

Sounds awesome, right? I only hope you don't have to get a new Brewing Kettle each time you trade for a festival box. That'd make everything go slower >.>

Root beer is delicious but, isn't sassafras a carcinogen? Poor Boboku.. :(

(Edit: From what it looks, this may be the contents of the Festival Box. Let me know if you get something different:

  • 1x Traditional German Outfit Set (M)
  • 1x Traditional German Outfit Set (F)
  • 1x Natural Furniture Package (7 days)
  • 10x Bull Hamstern.
  • 5x Friendship (B).
  • 10x VitalX.
  • 10x Remantis Laccotte.
  • 25x Meat Salad.
  • 25x Gratin.
  • 25x Hotdog
Right now Sarsparilla and Sassafras are selling 250k-400k on Lawolf.
The boxes are at a normal price (7M-10M)

Rhisis Event

I know the Rhisis' Treasure Box event ending half a week ago, but I couldn't bring myself to open the boxes I had accumulated. I was really hoping to sell them to earn some penya (I have a grand total of 10M on me, haha. I'm an impulsive buyer).

I found a nice spot to take some screenshots, held my breath, and started clicking like a madman!

I can't open them slowly; I've tried. It always feels like I'm slowly pouring penya down the drain. It's truly best to just let it go all at once.

Cool! I was expecting a pet or a pair of sunglasses, not 7.
Now time to kick back and enjoy the login event.

It's the weekend!

I'm off from school for the weekend! I'll be leveling Altaius for the weekend (which is in good contrast to the box grinding I did last week). If anyone is on  the Lawolf server and needs levels 55-60, let me know; I need a leech. (It'll take about an hour!)

I ended up with 105 boxes, subtracting the ones I used to get new vagrant stuff as I went along.
Not a bad haul for 2 days, although I don't think I'll be that hardcore again, it was hard sitting that long, haha.

Have fun with the login event! I'm sure you already know what it is. If you don't, log in and find out!

The Navigator

The Navigator is something that seemingly doesn't help much, unless you know how to properly use it. The developers gave the navigator quite a few functions, although I don't think there's any emphasis on how to use them.

The Basics -
There are 4 types of dots:

- Monsters are yellow/orange.
- NPC's are blue/purple.
- Other players are white.
- Quests are black and yellow.

You can hover over a dot to get more information about it.

1. This is where your filter drop-down menu is located.
2. The Zoom-in and Zoom-out buttons are located here.

Filters  -

there are 4 types of filters:

- NPC (any NPC's -- they don't have to be part of a quest for you)
- Player (Players aside from you)
- Monster (Monsters nearby)
- Party (Players currently in your party)

With these four options you can filter your mini-map to help you with tasks such as:
  • Finding a party member in a crowded town (uncheck Player and/or NPC)
  • Checking and see if party members are AFK above you while you're training ( uncheck all but Party)
  • Find NPC's in a crowded area (uncheck player and/or monster depending on location)
  • Scout for a partner in a crowded area(uncheck all but player)
  • etc..
Lastly, there's another really nice feature to your navigator (which also works really well with your filters). If the navigator is right-clicked, a list of nearby NPC's will appear.

By selecting an item from the list, an arrow will guide you to the NPC, as well as it being marked on your map.

Hope this helps you along your journey!

Some things are awesome, and others ... arent.(Part 2)

To counterbalance my last post, I'll point out some of the many nice things about FlyFF and her community.
(If you're reading from the main page make sure to click the Read More... at the bottom of the post!)

The First - Players can be genuinely kind
Aesprika was just hanging around the Totemia's, and decided to follow me around and buff me. We chatted for a while and she was really awesome!

For every looter you come across in FlyFF, There's at least two people willing to help you for no particular reason.

The Second - Interesting/Odd masquerpets

I seriously felt like I was playing Pokemon Snap when getting shots for this, haha.

  1. Wagsaac - Probably the most random monsters I've ever seen (The quest associated with it is pretty odd too).
  2. PukePuke - How do you pronounce that? Puke as in vomit? or PookayPookay? I've no idea myself, but his hat is awesome. I'd like it for my shop character!
  3. Demian - The lowest level blade EVER. This little troublemaker just runs around knifing people. I can't recall any other masquerpet near this level that is actually a person, so this one especially interested me.
  4. Mushpang - Is he angry? Or suprised? You never know. His expression is priceless though. I'd really like one as a CS pet someday. He's got a really interesting design on his head as well.
  5. NyangNyang - Along with having a really odd name, every time I fight these things, I always think "Meowth used scratch!". If you ever grind one these things because you don't like the Feferns (because rooting is frustating!) everyone in the room with you will constantly hear:"Meow!Meow!Meow! Mrrrr!! *NyangNyang dies*" if you don't mute your volume.

The Third - Fun events!
There's tons of events going on in FlyFF and there's mostly always something enjoyable going on. I especially enjoy the holiday themed events, simply because they're usually bigger and grander than the normal events (with the exception of the starting school/summer events).
